Bayer Leverkusen have signed Ivorian international Guéla Doué from Racing Strasbourg. The 23-year-old right-back joins for a fixed transfer fee of 30 million euros and signed a contract until the summer of 2031, as the club confirmed.
The deal was finalized on Saturday after Doué was withdrawn from Strasbourg's squad for their home match against RC Lens to protect the transfer. The transfer window closes on Tuesday at 20:00. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated the total fee could rise to 37.5 million euros with add-ons. Strasbourg had initially demanded a fee between 50 and 60 million euros. Doué participated in the last World Cup with Ivory Coast, playing in all four of his nation's matches.
