Robert Andrich stays at Bayer Leverkusen – for now
Bayer Leverkusen are close to selling Robert Andrich for around €10 million. But the defensive midfielder is blocking any move for now – and fighting for his place in the team instead. His goal: prove himself at Bayer Leverkusen before leaving. According to BILD, the 28-year-old has even taken on a leadership role in the dressing room while Exequiel Palacios is away.
Why Andrich isn’t pushing for a move right now
Andrich has established himself as a leader in recent weeks. Manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly considering him as a potential replacement for Palacios – at least until the Blankenhain training camp. The Argentine’s absence has given the German midfielder a clear path to impress. But Eintracht Frankfurt remains a serious rival.
Palacios and Tillman’s absence changes the equation
Exequiel Palacios is currently on a three-week break, as is Malik Tillman. That has opened the door for Andrich, who could now stake a claim to a starting role. So far, the 28-year-old has seized every opportunity – and looks more motivated than ever. A move would only be on the table if he can’t secure his spot.
When will the decision come?
According to BILD, a resolution won’t arrive until at least after the Blankenhain training camp in the first week of August. Until then, Andrich remains part of the squad – and is fighting for his place. Leverkusen would let him go, but only if the price is right. Frankfurt is waiting, but Andrich’s priority is clear: Bayer Leverkusen.
