This is significantly shorter than in other Bundesliga venues. The study was commissioned by the chocolate bar manufacturer Snickers. According to the study, a VAR decision in Leverkusen took an average of just 26 seconds. This makes the BayArena one of the faster Bundesliga venues. In contrast, the fans of 1. FC Köln had to wait much longer for decisions from the video referee. There, it took an average of almost a minute for a decision to be made. With the upcoming FIFA World Cup, the topic of video referees will once again play a major role for many fans. The study shows that the perceived eternity until the decision is often significantly shorter than thought – at least for the fans of Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
